Think of the SPP as the roadmap behind the work you see happening every day at Windsor Mill. It identifies where we want students to grow, the strategies teachers will use, and the evidence we will review throughout the year.

How We Know Whether the Plan Is Working

Staff do not wait until spring testing. Teams review evidence throughout the year and adjust instruction and support as needed.

Our Learning Cycle

Professional learning does not stop after one training.

Staff learning continues through PLC collaboration, coaching, data conversations, classroom implementation, walkthroughs, and feedback.

1. Learn Build knowledge of a strategy, tool, or instructional practice.

2. Plan Use PLC time and student data to plan for actual learners.

3. Implement Apply the strategy in daily classroom instruction.

4. Reflect Review evidence, receive feedback, and determine the next step.

How Families Can Support the Work

You do not need to be an expert in the School Progress Plan. A few consistent habits can reinforce the same skills students are practicing at school.

At Home

Small actions make a difference.

Ask about what your student is learning, encourage regular attendance, review grades and assignments, and invite your student to explain their thinking.

📚 Ask for Evidence

Try: “What evidence supports your answer?” This supports reading, writing, science, and social studies.

➗ Ask Them to Explain

Instead of only asking for the answer, ask your student to explain how they solved the problem.

✅ Check Progress

Review grades, missing assignments, feedback, and upcoming assessments with your student regularly.

🏫 Prioritize Attendance

Consistent attendance gives students access to instruction, intervention, enrichment, and relationships.

Maryland's statewide assessment program. ELA and Math department goals in this plan include MCAP proficiency targets.

Maryland's science assessment. The Science Department uses MISA-aligned instruction and readiness checks as part of its improvement work.

A shared assessment teachers use to check what students have learned and identify areas that may need reteaching or additional support.
